Using an ancient technique to create contemporary shrines, Liberty Antonia’s mosaics are inspired by the surviving depictions of fat figures, female sexuality, and queer deities. F inding comfort in rebellious bodies inspiring art & iconography throughout time, and affirmation in these figures from antiquity that existed outside the boundaries & binaries.While our ancestors may have used different words to describe themselves, throughout cultures & throughout centuries, human beings have come in all sorts of shapes, sizes & gender expressions; this is something to celebrate, document & take heart from.
