Current Market Overview In December 2025 Micron announced they are discontinuing the Crucial brand. Crucial was the retail arm of Micron Technology. Effectively they were putting Crucial stickers on Micron modules, Crucial never actually made RAM. Micron has also issued an End Of Life (EOL) on all their DDR4 modules. Samsung and Hynix have also announced the same EOL on DDR4 RAM. This has left the market in a difficult situation with wide spread chip shortages which has driving up the price on all RAM. To ensure supply, Ramcity has contracted a manufacturer to assemble DDR4 and DDR5 RAM in all speeds, formats and sizes using Micron and Samsung chips. This is the only way we can guarantee quality, supply and maintain our lifetime warranty on RAM. During this transition phase, there will be some branded RAM available but Ramcity reserves the right to replace or upgrade to equivalent or better components. In this case Samsung RAM will be swapped for Ramcity manufactured modules using Samsung chips. This does not affect your warranty or compatibility. When it comes to measuring DDR RAM speed, MT/s and MHz are used interchangeably, which is not actually correct. DDR stands for double data rate which means data is transfers on both the rising and falling edges of the clock signal. Meaning that the transfer rate is roughly twice the speed of the I/O bus clock. This RAM module runs at 1333MHz per second, but the effective rate is 2666 megatransfers per second (MT/s) because there are 1333 million rising edges per second and 1333 million falling edges per second of a clock signal running at 1333 MHz.
