The frame is black anodised aluminium and it floats. Drop the net over the side, or let go of it while you unhook, and it stays on the surface instead of going to the bottom. An elastic lanyard is included so you can clip it to your back or your vest and forget about it until you need it. The mesh is rubberised, which does two jobs at once.
