Munger is a vigorous black raspberry (Rubus occidentalis) released in 1890 and long used in Pacific Northwest production. It produces medium-size black berries with very good flavor and is best known as a processing cultivar for preserves, jams, jellies, freezing, and baking. Growing notes Plant form: 2-year, grade #1 bare root Fruiting habit: Summer-bearing; berries form on second-year floricanes. Site: Plant in full sun and very well-drained soil. Black raspberries are susceptible to Phytophthora root rot and Verticillium wilt. Pruning: Tip new primocanes in summer to encourage branching and remove spent floricanes after harvest.
