Keep at least 2 wraps of strap around the spool when tight — fewer can slip; too many can jam. Protect the straps from sharp edges (use a corner protector or a folded rag). Inspect each strap before use; replace immediately if you see cuts, fraying, or hardware damage. Always fold the ratchet handle flat against the strap when locked — that engages the lock and prevents slip. If a strap is returned damaged or missing, a $60 replacement fee per strap applies.
