These unroasted cashews are tender and naturally sweet, versatile for snacking or using in all kinds of recipes. A heat process is used to crack open the tough shells, the nut meat s are then removed and delicately hand-processed. Equal Exchange was started by importing fair trade coffee from Nicaragua in 1986, despite a US embargo against the Sandinista government.
