For life-threatening extremity hemorrhage a limb tourniquet remains the first-line intervention. Wound packing is a trained skill — complete a recognized bleeding control course and refresh it. ▾Operating Notes Pack gauze aggressively into the wound tract to the depth of the bleeding vessel — superficial packing does not control deep arterial bleeding. Maintain direct manual pressure for a minimum of three minutes before wrapping. Apply the Ready Wrap™ under tension over the packed wound so compression is sustained once your hands come off. Reassess distal circulation and re-check the wound after movement or patient transfer. GRIP8™ grips against itself rather than bonding to skin, hair or clothing, so the wrap can be applied over a uniform, in wet or cold conditions, or with gloved hands, and can be unwound and reapplied if the first attempt is misplaced.
