Drop bars that are ridden further than across town need handlebar gel under the bar tape. Why? A few reasons. Vibration damping. Handlebar enbiggening. Tape padding is generally cr ap and packs out like a Payless sneaker in just a few rides. The little pebbles on the road, cracks, dirt, gravel, all of these thing make your bike vibrate. Those vibrations are going right up into your hands, your arms, shoulders, neck. Gel kills some of that chatter, like putting your finger on a ringing bell or muting a guitar by putting a wet flounder on it. Enbiggening is important too. Bigger bars spread pressure on your ulnar nerve over a larger area. Less hand numbness that way. We put readyMADE gel on all of our builds with drop bars. There's 4 pads. You have to cut them to length. They're wide enough for 52cm bars, but can be cut down to work with 38cm bars as well. Two pads for the tops of the bars and the ramps leading to the hoods. Two pads for the drops. readyMADE drop bar gel is made in Taiwan. Emily, who works here sending out packages and smiles, designed the graphics and packaging. What is readyMADE? In a hat tip to Marcel Duchamp, readyMADE consists of parts that preexist but are not distributed in the US. We work with high quality Taiwanese makers to bring readyMADE parts to you. We don't design them, we just think you deserve to know they exist and maybe run them on your whip. Show more
