Red Eared Sliders are semiaquatic animals that range in length between 3.9” to 11.4” and the females tend to be larger than the males. They have rough upper shells and red streaks behind their eyes. They live up to 30 years in the wild and 40 years in captivity. Juvenile sliders feed on insects, spiders, fish, crayfish and other small amphibians.
