This bright-eyed red squirrel was painted in 2001 as an exercise to improve my wildlife portraits. I'm very happy with how it came out, sometimes things drop in just right and this was one of those times! Red squirrels are such beautiful animals, and we have been blessed to see them in the wild in Scotland, the English Lake District and on the Isle of Wight. The background is intentionally minimal so as not to take away attention from the squirrel. It is painted in acrylic on a canvas panel measuring 10" x 14" (254mm x 356mm) and is unframed. Show more
