Overview Family: Poeciliidae Swordtails are active, live-bearing fish known for their vibrant colors, peaceful nature, & adaptability to community aquariums. Native to Central Amer ica, these fish do best in groups & are often kept in planted tanks with plenty of space to swim. They are hardy but thrive in clean, well-maintained tanks with stable conditions. Males can be territorial, especially during breeding, so keeping more females-to-males helps maintain harmony. Recommended Tank Size: A minimum of 50 litres Swordtails prefer prefer moderately hard, slightly alkaline water. They are active swimmers and benefit from long tanks with open areas. Average Adult Size: Swordtails: 8–12 cm They grow steadily and usually reach adult size in 4–6 months with proper care and feeding.
