Perfect for those with some previous lino printing experience or anyone who has attended one of our courses. Led by artist and printmaker Clare Bowes, in this class she will guide you through the process of creating multi-coloured, layered prints from a single lino block. Reduction printing involves carving away layers of your block as you progress through your design. Each layer is printed in a different colour, with earlier layers gradually removed to reveal the lighter colours beneath. This technique requires careful planning and execution, but the results are rich, multi-layered images with incredible depth and detail. What You’ll Learn: • Design and Planning: Understand how to plan your reduction print, mapping out the order of colours and layers for the most effective results. • Carving Techniques: Learn how to carve your block in stages, removing areas to ensure each layer builds and works with the last. • Inking and Printing: Learn the process of inking and printing each layer, achieving consistent alignment and vibrant colours throughout your print. • Registration Skills: Learn methods for accurate registration, ensuring that each layer of your print aligns perfectly.
