Cedar is used for blessing and protection by many cultures. One of the ways is by placing boughs over the door and on the ground of the front entrance to your home. Cedars are known throughout the world for their beneficial properties, for example, the Ringing Cedars of Russia. One of the main functions of cedar is that it blesses while it cleanses your energy field and space. Cedar is about breathing and naturally is about creating space and boundaries. We ask the Creator in prayer to bless the cedar to be a protector. When you smudge with the cedar, it will create a web that allows only goodness and light to come into your space. Cedar is an offering for forgiveness to creator to let go of whatever you believe has been a mistake so it will assist you to move forward in your life. The western redwood cedar is used as a cleansing herb and is used for blessings. Bless a home before moving in. It helps purify and “clear the air” as well as being an offering. It does both what the sage and to some degree what the sweetgrass does. If you have sensitivity to sage it may be a preference. Red Cedar is traditionally gathered in the Pacific Northwest of North America.
