It is most often the mechanical action in the drum of the washing machine that causes damage to garments through stretching or abrasion against other garments. Hand washing prevents these two things from happening.We would advise using mild, not too hot water as this may affect the fibres leading to shrinking/thermal shock. As well as a small dose of laundry liquid as not much will be needed to give great results in a small bowl/bucket.
