Reflections captures that fleeting moment when light, color, and water all seem to blur into one. Inspired by the quiet beauty of northern Wisconsin in early spring, Dawn Richardson painted this piece while observing the way the woods and sky appeared on the surface of a thawing pond — fragmented, vibrant, and constantly shifting. The layers of pink, orange, and green suggest blooming branches just beginning to wake, while the cooler blues and purples speak to the lingering chill in the air. At the center, a subtle glow draws your eye in, like sunlight breaking through trees or the distant shimmer of water at the end of a trail. Richardson often paints from memory rather than reference, and Reflections is a blend of real places and imagined color. It’s less about a specific scene and more about how it felt to be there: standing still, taking it in, and letting the moment pass through you.
