Glycerin (0.9%) acts as an additional humectant lubricant — attracting and retaining moisture at the ocular surface, reducing osmotic stress (hyperosmolarity) that drives dry eye inflammation. This dual-active approach provides more comprehensive lubrication than single-active drops: CMC extends contact time while Glycerin provides additional osmotic protection and moisturization of the epithelial cells.
