Rega’s reference Planar: a diamond-cut ceramic oxide platter, ceramic-braced skeletal plinth, and the RB3000 arm built with no adhesive anywhere in it. The Planar 10 sits below only the Naia in Rega’s range and was directly inspired by the Naiad reference project. Everything about it argues for low mass and extreme stiffness. The skeletal Tancast 8 foam core plinth is 30% lighter than the original RP10 while being more rigid, and it is braced with a ceramic top brace and a phenolic resin bottom brace, positioned to add stiffness without adding absorbing mass. The platter is the signature item: a custom ceramic oxide disc, diamond cut during manufacture for what Rega calls ultimate accuracy and speed stability. It runs on a single-piece machined aluminium sub-platter and hardened tool steel spindle in a custom brass housing. The RB3000 tonearm is hand-built by a small team of technicians and uses no adhesive anywhere in its assembly — the tolerances are tight enough not to need any. Its bearings are hand selected to be an interference fit with their paired spindles, and the preloaded zero-tolerance assembly is adjusted to less than a thousandth of a millimetre. The arm tube is hand polished and completely redesigned to redistribute mass. Power comes from the dedicated P10 PSU, a substantially larger unit than the Neo at 3kg against 0.6kg, using DSP technology for motor control stability, electronic speed change, anti-vibration control and user-adjustable fine speed. Apheta 3 or Aphelion 2 moving coil cartridges are available factory-fitted. These figures are shared across the RB220, RB330, RB880 and RB3000 Arm Height / VTA: Not adjustable. This is deliberate on Rega’s part rather than an omission, and the company states its reasoning plainly: it believes the integrity of the arm fixing to the arm board matters more than the questionable facility of arm height adjustment. Rega’s guidance is that the arm should sit reasonably parallel to the record surface or slightly lower at the mounting, and that its optional 2mm spacers are only needed if the rear of a cartridge fouls the record while playing Cartridge: Optional factory-fitted — Apheta 3 or Aphelion 2 moving coil Drive Belt: Reference EBLT Dimensions: 420 x 115 x 350 mm (W x H x D), with dustcover Weight: 4.7kg turntable; P10 PSU 3kg Finishes: Matt Polaris Grey, Matt White. Rega’s own wording is that every product is designed and assembled in the UK — assembled rather than wholly manufactured, which is the phrasing we use rather than claiming complete UK component sourcing. Rega additionally states Made in England on this model Warranty: Lifetime Limited Warranty against confirmed manufacturing defects. It does not cover wear and tear or parts considered consumable, and unauthorised modification may invalidate it. Rega states cover is contingent on parts remaining available, is not transferable, and is valid only in the country of purchase Not Published: Ceramic oxide platter thickness; the formal ceramic grade — Rega says only “ceramic oxide”, and third-party descriptions such as alumina or zirconia-toughened alumina are not Rega’s wording; the P10 PSU’s electrical specifications, which Rega does not publish on this page, so do not assume the Neo’s figures apply; wow and flutter; rumble; speed accuracy Note: Rega publishes no wow and flutter, rumble or speed accuracy figure for any turntable in the Planar range. We checked every product page and five downloadable Rega manuals — Rega’s manuals are setup guides rather than datasheets, and contain no measurement section at all. Any such number you see quoted against a Rega deck comes from a third-party magazine test, not from Rega
