Details Though its moniker might conjure less-than-pleasant imagery, “barfi” is actually named after the Urdu word for snow. This is because its two main ingredients—sugar and milk—leave it as white as winter in Nantucket. Its combination of sugar, density, and melt-in-your-mouth texture means you’ll often hear it referred to as Indian fudge. Like the more Western version of its namesake, barfi is naturally vegetarian and egg-free. This makes it a great dessert option for kids and block parties.
