What is Reiki? Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Kyoto, Japan. Reiki means “spiritual energy” and “universal Life Force Energy” in the West. The word "Rei" (靈), which is pronounced “ling” in Mandarin, signifies something spiritual or sacred. In Japanese culture, Rei (靈) represents the spirit that exists everywhere. Ki (氣), pronounced as “qi” in Mandarin, means the energy of everything. This concept of energy is similar to qi in qigong (氣功), an ancient Chinese practice that combines meditation, breathing, and movement. Reiki is an alternative healing practice that can complement both Western and Eastern medical treatments. It is non-invasive and does not interfere with any medication. During a Reiki session, the practitioner channels positive and loving energy through their hands, which either touch or hover above various parts of the client’s body. This energy is believed to cleanse and purge negative energies, such as stress and pain. Distance Reiki In a Distance Reiki session, the practitioner and client are not in the same physical space. The practitioner - Jeannie, the founder of GUMMAAE, will send Reiki energy remotely. She connects with the client by visualizing them while holding a piece of paper with their photo or drawing, along with key details like their name, date of birth, and current location. Consent Distance Reiki can only be performed on 1 person per session with the client’s consent. A session cannot be booked for someone who is unaware of and has not agreed to receive Reiki. In cases where the person is in a coma, Jeannie will meditate to seek permission from the individual’s higher self. What to do during the session Find a quiet, comfortable space where you can relax You may choose to meditate, nap, or simply rest. Duration Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes. What you may feel during the session A range of emotions as energy is released Sensations like waves of energy or tingling Changes in temperature: warmth, heat, or cold Visions or colors may appear What you may experience after the session A sense of relaxation, relief, calm, and overall improved well-being A better mood A feeling of tiredness or a need to rest What if I do not feel anything during & after the session? Not everyone experiences physical sensations during a Reiki session. The benefits of Reiki can still be present even if you do not feel immediate effects. Keep an open mind and give yourself time to process the experience. What the practitioner - Jeannie - may experience during the session Emotions such as discomfort or stress from the client Physical sensations like itchiness, pain, warmth, or tingling Visions or images related to the client What is the process? After booking an appointment and making the payment, you will receive an email or Instagram Message with the next steps. (Please note that video calls are not part of the process. All interactions are via email or Instagram Messaging.) Reply to the email or Instagram Message with a photo of yourself and your details. At the scheduled appointment time, Jeannie will email or Instagram Message you when the session begins and ends. After the session, Jeannie will email or Instagram Message you her insights and experiences from the session. Jeannie's training After years of being a dedicated Reiki receiver, Jeannie embraced her calling to become a Reiki practitioner. She pursued personalized training, advancing to Level 2 in both in-person and distant Reiki techniques in Japan. Her training was conducted by a Japanese Reiki master whose lineage of Reiki training can be traced back to Mikao Usui, the founder of Reiki. Jeannie’s practice incorporates a blend of Western and traditional Eastern Reiki techniques. Booking Terms To book a session, click the “SCHEDULE YOUR TIME” button and select a suitable time slot from the calendar. Please ensure that you book your session at least 24 hours in advance. What is your policy on cancellations or rescheduling? If you need to cancel or reschedule your distant Reiki session, please contact us at least 12 hours before your scheduled appointment. We will do our best to accommodate your request. Please note that cancellations made less than 12 hours before the session are not eligible for a refund. However, rescheduling may still be possible depending on availability.
