Download This Template! Key Elements Of An ISO Release Calendar 1. Release Schedule: Plan and organize upcoming releases, implementation activities, and important project events by date. 2. Event Description: Record details about each release, change, maintenance activity, milestone, or scheduled event. 3. System Impact: Identify whether a planned release or event is expected to affect systems or services. 4. Release Status: Use clear indicators to distinguish different types of releases, outages, notices, and activities. 5. Project Milestones: Coordinate release dates with project milestones, implementation deadlines, audits, and other important activities. 6. Internal Activities: Schedule internal maintenance, testing, deployment, review, and other activities that may affect project or operational teams. 7. Monthly Planning: Organize upcoming activities within a calendar view to improve visibility and coordination. Benefits Of Using An ISO Release Calendar Template Improve release planning: Maintain a centralized schedule for upcoming releases and implementation activities. Strengthen change coordination: Coordinate planned changes with projects, teams, stakeholders, and operational activities. Improve schedule visibility: Make upcoming releases, milestones, events, and deadlines easy to identify. Reduce scheduling conflicts: Help teams identify overlapping releases, outages, maintenance activities, and important events. Support audit readiness: Maintain documented information about planned releases and implementation activities. Improve stakeholder communication: Give relevant teams a consistent view of upcoming changes and releases. Support controlled implementation: Organize releases and changes in a structured and predictable manner. Why Is Release Planning Important For ISO Management Systems? 1. Supports controlled changes: A release calendar provides visibility of planned changes and helps teams coordinate implementation activities. 2. Improves project planning: Release dates can be aligned with project milestones, testing activities, approvals, and implementation deadlines. 3. Helps manage operational impact: Planned outages, system changes, and releases can be identified in advance so affected teams can prepare. 4. Improves traceability: A documented calendar provides a historical and forward-looking record of scheduled releases and activities. 5. Supports quality management in projects: ISO 10006 provides guidance on applying quality management principles and practices to projects, including project processes, measurement, analysis, and improvement. How Can A Release Calendar Support ISO Implementation? An ISO implementation team can use a release calendar to coordinate activities such as policy and procedure releases, document updates, system implementations, control changes, process changes, training activities, testing, internal audits, corrective actions, and certification preparation. For example, an ISO 27001 project may use the calendar to coordinate security-control implementations, system changes, testing, and deployment activities. An ISO 9001 project can use it to schedule process changes, document updates, training, and quality improvement activities. ISO Standards Supported The template can support release and implementation activities related to: ISO 9001 – Quality management and process improvement ISO/IEC 27001 – Information security changes and implementations ISO/IEC 20000-1 – IT service and release management ISO 14001 – Environmental management system changes ISO 45001 – Occupational health and safety system changes ISO 22301 – Business continuity implementation activities ISO 42001 – AI management system changes Integrated Management Systems (IMS) Who Can Use An ISO Release Calendar Template?
