Colin King Studio approaches objects the way a sculptor approaches negative space: with deliberate restraint and a sharp eye for what can be removed. The Relevé Platter is a produc t of that sensibility. Carved from solid acacia wood, its defining gesture is a raised base that lifts the serving surface just enough to suggest weightlessness, as if the platter hovers rather than rests. Acacia is a material with character. Its tight, varied grain resists the anonymity of engineered wood, and it develops a quiet patina over time. The form amplifies that quality, keeping ornamentation to nothing so the wood itself carries the composition.
