I’ve followed her journey ever since. There’s an immediacy to her paintings that keeps drawing me back—you can feel the energy in her mark-making, the way colour and movement build with a kind of joyful confidence. Having both grown up in Tasmania, that shared connection feels present in her work. There’s a natural sense of joy and openness that runs through her paintings. She brings a spirit of play to her practice that’s refreshing—her work doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that invites you to simply experience it rather than overthink. What I really value is her intention to create work that connects emotionally while still feeling light and uplifting. There’s a warmth in her paintings, a sense of ease, that can completely shift the atmosphere of a space—making it feel more personal, more lived-in, like a home. Artist Statement I’m Adele, a Brisbane-based abstract artist with a lifelong love of colour. My work is intuitive and expressive, built through layers of movement, texture and feeling. I’m often guided by music and emotion, and I guess the pull of colour itself - letting each piece unfold naturally rather than beginning with a fixed idea. My paintings mirror the space between chaos and calm. Alongside my art practice, I’m also the founder of House of Aya, an artist-led fashion label where my original artworks are transformed into wearable pieces.
