The receiver plugs into your toy/remote/device/interface (1/8" or 3.5mm) and has its own on/off switch, which you must remember to turn off when not in use. It uses 3 'button' (hearing aid) batteries available at any pharmacy. The switch houses the electronics that transmit. It is a momentary signal, meaning that it turns the receiver on for the moments that you are activating the switch.
