Long-lasting UVB output (12+ months). Keepers can use the UV Index reference values to ensure that animals are exposed to an appropriate level of UV when basking. The intensity of the emissions varies depending on the distance from the basking area. Creating a gradient – from highest safe UV index at the basking area to lowest UV index in cooler areas – means they can completely self-regulate alongside their thermoregulatory behaviours. They should not be allowed to expose themselves to more than a safe maximum and should have the freedom to escape all light completely with areas of zero UV and Infrared.
