In the 2025 the spoken word poetry world was rocked by the passing of several local, global and iconic poets. They include Nikki Giovanni, Malcolm Jamal Warner, Andrea Gibson, and Viet. All of these four were either legends in the poetry world and/or friends or colleagues of us here at SekouWorld Inc, So, this shirt is one way to honor their names, their contribution to the artform, and the impact they had on our millions of lives. Some of them were legends we never met but were influenced by over decades. Some were legends who considered us peers. Some we simply had the honor of sharing the stage with on occasion …and maybe even calling “friend”. If you don’t know their work, please look it up, support it, and expect to be transformed by it. As we learn of more poets who pass away each year, we will continue to honor them in this way, and others. To you poets who have given us your final mic drop: We miss you. We love you.
