This traditional writing bureau, once a common feature in the home, will blend in beautifully with a range of traditional, vintage, or more modern settings. Many people are turning to the traditional bureau as a work area for their laptops and tablets, as more of us have to work from home but need to use our living space economically. It has a full-width drawer and a spacious double cupboard, perfect for the storage of personal and home office paperwork and files. The upper section features a drop-down lid that comes to rest on automatically withdrawing support arms to form a stable leather-lined writing surface. Inside the writing area is a treasure trove of vertical and horizontal cubby holes, including two drawers. The oxblood colour leather writing pad shows a few signs of use but is still in good condition. One key is provided to lock the main flap if required. We have carefully restored this piece by meticulously stripping away the previous, darker finish to reveal the beautiful tones of the oak grain. We have then applied a clear lacquer to accentuate the beauty of the wood and provide protection. This bureau is constructed predominantly from solid oak, although some veneer panels are used. The back and drawer base are plywood. The height and depth shown in brackets are for the height and depth of the writing flap when it is fully opened. With its ornate ring handles, beautiful oak grain and attractive linenfold carvings, this traditional writing bureau is both visually appealing and extremely practical. It will make a fabulous addition to the home. [dimensions][w]76[/w][d]43(74)[/d][h]100(70)[/h][/dimensions]
