Return to Zero Event at Daydream Join us for the OC premiere of Return to Zero, a 16mm film by Amado Stachenfeld at our shop on Saturday, April 27th at 6:30 pm. We’ll have complimentary refreshments courtesy of 805 and enjoy an in depth Q&A with the filmmaker along with an art installation from the resin peels that were used in the reshaping process of the single board that was used to make this entire film. Return to Zero is a surf film that explores the themes of life, death and reincarnation through the physical form of a surfboard. The original board was a 1960’s Hobie D fin signed to the infamous “Seaverson”; it was stripped of its glassing, reshaped as a more contemporary longboard, glassed, then surfed. That longboard was again stripped of its glassing, reshaped into a midlength, glassed, then surfed... so on and so forth all the way until the board was whittled down to a little fish. This vision is a beautiful and original concept that helps us reflect on sustainability and how shared experiences can inject a metaphysical magic into the objects and ideas that we create. Come out and support some of our local dudes in the film Joey Bookout, Grant Noble, and shop owner Kyle Kennelly as well as the rest of the cast: Andrew Fletcher, Anna Gudauskas, Kassia Meador, Paul Takahashi, Troy Mothershead, Demi Boelsteri, and Trevor Gordon.
