Rhombo Barb (Desmopuntius rhomboocellatus), also known as the Snakeskin Barb, is a strikingly patterned freshwater fish native to blackwater streams of Borneo. Its shimmering copper-to-golden body is adorned with unique black ocellated spots that resemble a snake's scales, giving this barb its distinctive appearance. Peaceful and social, Rhombo Barbs thrive in schools of six or more and show their best colors when kept in a well-decorated, low-light aquarium with plenty of leaf litter, driftwood, and plant cover. These fish do especially well in soft, slightly acidic water, and they benefit from the presence of tannins and natural humic substances. They are hardy and adapt well to community aquariums with other peaceful species of similar size.
