Rheum rhabarbarum. Large, green-red stalks are perfect for stews, pies, jams, sauces, and lemonades. Very hardy (zone 3) and prolific, and increases in size every year. A herbaceou s perennial plant with strong stalks. Due to size (3-4 ft tall and 3 ft wide), plant in a back corner of the garden. The plants prefer full sun to part shade, but are not particular about soil type (although will benefit from occasional addition of compost and mulch). Show more
