Rhus typhina 'Dissecta' Rhus typhina ‘Dissecta’ is a fast-growing, suckering deciduous shrub or small tree valued for its finely cut, fern-like leaves that turn brilliant orange-red in autumn. In early to mid-summer it bears upright panicles of greenish-yellow flowers; on female plants these may be followed by dense, velvety red fruiting clusters that can persist into winter. Best grown in a sunny, open position in moderately fertile, well-drained soil; once established it copes with relatively poor conditions. In Irish gardens, allow space for its spreading habit and remove unwanted suckers to contain it.
