The Ferm Living Rico Ottoman brings that same curvaceous design philosophy from the Rico collection into a multipurpose piece that actually earns its place in your room. Available as a made-to-order piece, you get to choose from their complete range of fabrics including chunky boucle textures, smooth brushed finishes, rich grain weaves, and specialty patterns that coordinate perfectly with other Rico pieces or stand beautifully on their own. At 124cm wide and 69cm deep, this thing is substantial enough to work as extra seating when people come over, but the 41cm height makes it perfect for putting your feet up while watching TV or as an impromptu coffee table that doesn't feel awkward. The organic curves and soft lines give it this welcoming quality that makes every room feel more relaxed and lived-in rather than formal or stuffy. What makes this ottoman really useful is how it handles all those situations where regular furniture just doesn't quite work. Need somewhere to stack books and magazines? Perfect height for that. Kids need extra seating for game night? The generous proportions handle multiple people comfortably. Want to put your feet up while working from your sofa? The depth gives you proper support without having to angle yourself weird. The PU foam construction with inner wooden structure means it holds its shape whether someone's sitting on it or it's just holding stuff, and the curved base gives it this grounded feeling that doesn't wobble or feel tippy like some ottomans do. The fact that it's made in Italy shows in the construction quality - this isn't going to start sagging or looking worn after a few months of real use. Ferm Living has been doing this whole Danish design thing since 2005, starting when founder Trine Andersen couldn't find wallpaper she liked and decided to make her own instead. That same approach of creating what you actually want rather than settling for what's available carries through to their furniture. The Rico collection represents their understanding that the best pieces adapt to how you live rather than forcing you to change your habits. Working with skilled Italian manufacturers, they've developed furniture that combines Scandinavian simplicity with the kind of construction quality that means these pieces become part of your home for years rather than just until you find something better.
