One of the truly traditional winemaking bodegas found in Rioja, R. Lopez de Heredia has spent the last 130 years carrying the torch for "the old ways" all while revolution has raged around them, and that sticking to their guns has allowed them to establish themselves amongst some of the greatest wines on the planet, including this bottle, the legendary 'Viña Tondonia Gran Reserva'. One of the great Riojas of Spain, a blend of 75% Tempranillo and 15% Grenache, with the remaining 10% being made up of Granciano and Mazuelo, produced from exceptionally old vines in the legendary Viña Tondonia vineyard, which Heredia acquired between 1913 and 1914. Aged an astonishing 10 years in oak before a further 12 years of bottle maturation, the wine has a beautiful amber-ruby color with aromas of blood orange peel, pepper, dried thyme, cherries, strawberries, leather and spice. A chance to taste the history of Spain. 13.0% ABV
