2023 Made by hand in a limited-edition series of 12 Sand-cast solid aluminium 250mm height x 320mm width 2.8kg Sand ripples sand-cast by hand and alchemy to represent the unity of matter, spirit and energy. Handcrafted from aluminium, this wall relief sculpture captures the fleeting sand ripples that glisten on its surface as it catches the light. This piece forms part of a body of work conceived through ongoing exploration of the alchemical transformation of matter and spirit. The process of creation began with a 3D capture of windswept sand, which was then immortalised through the sand casting technique. Due to the nature of the material, the organic-shaped, uniquely poured ripples, and pitting are to be celebrated for their individual beauty. Raw aluminium will naturally develop a patina over time, adding to its living inherent beauty. If desired, a high-quality metal polish can be used to enhance brightness and shine. Show more
