Riverwalk started what I now call 'memoryscape' paintings - works that are remembrances of specific, significant walks. However, these paintings are often painted in the portrait f ormat, as I consider them to be portraits of a sort (much more than they are landscapes), despite the landscape being a significant instigator of them. Water is a very common theme in art - symbolic of purity, transformation, mortality and the unknown - and a lot of my walks take place along the river Stour in Suffolk after caring for my father who suffers from dementia. They are redemptive, reflective, emotionally charged paintings. Show more
