RIW LAC® (Liquid Asphaltic Composition) is a cold-applied bitumen-based waterproofing and radon barrier coating with a track record of nearly a century in the construction industry. Formulated as a solution of natural and petroleum bitumens in white spirit, it dries to a uniform gloss black finish and can be applied quickly and easily by brush, roller or spray. Designed primarily for use on structures below ground level, LAC® is ideal for external and internal tanking, retaining walls and ground floor damp proof membranes. It can also be used on superstructures as a vapour barrier behind cladding systems and plaster finishes. When correctly applied, LAC® meets the performance requirements for Grade 1, 2 and 3 basement protection under Type A structures as classified in BS8102:2009. It also provides an effective barrier against radon gas and is sulphate resistant, making it well suited to challenging ground conditions.
