This wine is a good example of why the North East of Victoria is quite unique. Dense in color with youthful hints of purple, the nose is aromatic with ripe plum and blackberry notes with a hint of vanilla spice from American oak. The palate has similar fruit character, some of which is derived from the high alcohol, which is still in balance with the rest of the wine. Inky ruby. Dense and almost porty on the nose, with lush raspberry and cherry preserve aromas tinged by high-toned notes of underbrush, licorice, mocha and dried flowers. Ridiculously sweet and concentrated, with explosive, palate-staining flavors of raspberry, blackberry, cherry, roasted game and floral pastilles and a sappy, clinging texture.
