Axle Buffer - the progressive rubber bump stop that limits suspension travel at full compression. Mounted between the axle and chassis, it absorbs the axle as it rises to the top o f its travel, protecting the damper, spring and surrounding structure from bottoming out. A perished or missing buffer allows harsh metal-to-metal contact over large bumps and under heavy load, and accelerates wear of the damper and mounts. Show more
