During a wave of attacks on the friends and family of the Justice League of America, Captain Boomerang was hired by someone to murder Jack Drake. Little did he know that an unknown person had sent Jack a gun, with a note that read simply "defend yourself". The resulting chaos claimed both of their lives, and left two young men orphans.Now the sons of that tragedy, Robin and the new Captain Boomerang (Owen Mercer) find that they have to work together in order to prevent the destruction of Gotham City.
