However, her natural playful spirit, akin to that of Robinson Crusoe, helps her overcome life's initial hardships. As she confronts her childlike dreams with harsh realities, Bláža matures into a level of independence unusual for girls her age. The film, framed as a story told by Bláža's grandmother to her daughter years later, turns a fundamentally tragic story into one with an optimistic outcome.
