Steam Locomotive BR 44 The locomotives of the series 44 of the Deutschen Reichsbahn were heavy, five times clutched standard steam locomotives for freight trains. They were intende d for the transportation of freight trains up to 1.200 t on lines through low mountain ranges and 600 t over steep inclines.
