Raku is light sensitive and should be kept away from direct sunlight. Mesquite aroma is from the reduction using wood shavings and fades with time. Ash is normal. Cracking of the g lazes and minor fissures is normal and due to the rapid change in environment from a 2000 degree kiln to a 70 degree atmosphere.Each cross is unique in its own way and process, no one cross is the same. The style will be the same, but expect glaze, crystal, and copper differences. Each Raku Cross is fired in an outdoor kiln, red hot. It is then pulled from the kiln and placed into a pit with wood shavings. The intense heat ignites a blaze giving the cross its unique flashes of color making it one of a kind.
