THE TROPICAL ROLEX DATE 1500The Rolex Date reference 1500 is a cool 34mm watch that has become more of a focus with collectors over the past year or so, especially when it has a special twist like this example. The black gilt dial has turned a beautiful tropical brown that fades from left to right across the dial. Catch it at the right angle in the sun…wow – it’s just beautiful. One interesting point to note is that the T SWISS T designation at the bottom edge of the dial has had the ‘T’s added later in a silver font that was applied on top of the lacquer. Always interesting details with vintage Rolex! The watch retains a strong case and has its original smooth bezel in very nice condition.
