The roller follower (also known as a cam follower or tappet) sits between the camshaft lobe and the pushrod in the valvetrain, converting rotational cam movement into linear motion to operate the inlet and exhaust valves. On Land Rover's 200Tdi, 300Tdi, and pre-Tdi four-cylinder engines, worn or collapsed roller followers cause audible tapping, erratic valve timing, and accelerated camshaft lobe wear. Replacing followers at the correct interval prevents secondary damage to the camshaft and cylinder head. Key Features Roller-type follower design reduces friction against the camshaft lobe compared to flat-faced tappets Supplied as an individual follower - count the number of cylinders to determine total quantity required per engine Meets OEM replacement specification for Land Rover part ERR561G When replacing followers, inspect camshaft lobes and pushrods for wear and replace oil if contaminated with metal debris Vehicle Fitment Fits Land Rover Defender (1986–2006), Discovery 1 (1989–1998), Range Rover Classic, Series 2, 2A, and Series 3 vehicles with 2.25 Petrol, 2.5 Petrol, 2.5 Diesel NA, 2.5 Turbo Diesel, 200Tdi, and 300Tdi engines.
