Do you dare to cross the threshold of the fort gate? Feel like a commander standing guard over a mighty Roman camp, a place where every step could signal the beginning of great adventure or danger. The gate is more than just an entrance. It was a symbol of order, strength and vigilance for the Roman Empire. It wasn't just for defense. It was a meeting place, a place for trade, but also a point through which intrigue could penetrate. When an ox-drawn cart loaded with barrels and sacks of goods approached, no one knew whether it was an ordinary merchant or a cunning spy. Porta Praetoria, where power began Rome! Every Roman camp was surrounded by a high palisade, trenches were dug, and its walls had four gates. The most important of these was the porta praetoria—the main gate. It was through this gate that legionaries marched into battle, through which supplies and merchants arrived, but also… sometimes someone who wasn't who they claimed to be. Build a guardhouse and take command! This set takes you to the very heart of camp life. The sturdy fort gate, with its opening doors and a section of palisade, serves as a checkpoint for the entire castrum. Here, a vigilant legionary guard watches the horizon—and just then spots a Gallic merchant with an ox-drawn cart. The cart is loaded with barrels, sacks, and crates... Is this an honest trader? Or perhaps a spy trying to infiltrate the camp? The decision is yours! The Roman Camp – Gate set includes: Two unique figures: • Roman Legionary - armament includes a pilum spear, scutum shield, galea helmet and lorica segmentata armor. • Gallic merchant - in realistic attire and with a distinctive appearance, perfect for the role of a merchant or... spy. Camp gate model - Opening gates, a high palisade made of massive logs and details inspired by archaeological finds. Ox-drawn cart — A wooden vehicle loaded with goods and sacks, ready for trade or smuggling scenarios. Legion banner (Aquila) — A golden eagle, a symbol of pride and unity of the Roman army. Build your own Roman fort! The gate with the merchant and guard is part of a modular set that can be combined with other elements from the IMPERIUM ROMANUM series from COBI to create a realistic, extensive Roman military camp (castrum). The set perfectly complements the 4 guard towers (#20076), the second gate (#20077), two dioramas with legionnaire tents (#20078).
