Ron Barceló 30 Year Aniversario Rum 750ML is a premium Dominican rum bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof) in a 750ml presentation. What sets this expression apart is its remarkable double-aging process, which concludes with finishing in former Château d'Yquem wine casks — barrels sourced from one of Bordeaux's most revered Sauternes estates. The rum has earned multiple Gold, Double Gold, and Platinum medals at international spirits competitions since 2013, and scored 93.5/100 from Rum Howler.Quick Facts: ABV: 43% (86 Proof) | Origin: Dominican Republic | Commemorative Anniversary Blend | Distillery: Alcoholes Finos Dominicanos (Ron Barceló)Production & HeritageRon Barceló produces this rum at its Alcoholes Finos Dominicanos distillery in the Dominican Republic, using 100% sugarcane juice harvested from the company's own plantations — a distinction that places it among the minority of Caribbean rums made from fresh cane juice rather than molasses. Distillation runs through a four-column still, yielding a clean, characterful spirit. The base rums are initially aged for a minimum of ten years in ex-bourbon American oak casks, then carefully blended and re-casked for an additional two years in used wine barrels from Château d'Yquem, the legendary Premier Cru Supérieur Sauternes estate. This secondary maturation in those prized French wine casks introduces layers of dried fruit sweetness and vinous complexity that distinguish the 30 Aniversario from Barceló's standard Imperial bottlings.Tasting NotesAroma: The nose opens with deep mocha coffee and melted caramel before shifting into exquisite dried spices, dried black cherries, and honeyed raisins. Beneath those top notes, oak, leather, cantaloupe, and a subtle sherry-like vinous quality emerge, reflecting the Yquem cask influence.Taste: The palate enters with pepper and cinnamon alongside a dash of cardamom, establishing an immediate spice-driven framework. A wave of sweetness follows — vanilla, butterscotch, caramel, and chocolate pudding — layered with red raspberry, melon, and a dusting of black cherry and cola. The mid-palate is rich and full-bodied, with the oak and spice elements balancing the fruit-forward sweetness in a way that feels integrated rather than heavy.Finish: Long and warming, with lingering pepper leaf and elegant tobacco carrying through well after the sip. The dried spice and oak taper slowly, leaving a clean, complex aftertaste. How to Drink Ron Barceló 30 AniversarioThis is a sipping rum first and foremost — serve neat in a tulip glass at room temperature, or with a single large ice cube to gently open the deeper spice and fruit notes. A few drops of water can coax out additional sweetness from the Yquem cask character. For cocktails, the 30 Aniversario's complexity shines in an Old Fashioned, where its caramel and spice depth replaces bourbon beautifully. It also elevates a Dark & Stormy, as the mocha and pepper notes stand up to sharp ginger beer. A Ron Collins (rum, lime, simple syrup, soda) lets the dried fruit and vanilla carry through without being masked.Best For Gifting a rum enthusiast who appreciates rare cask finishes After-dinner sipping alongside dessert or a fine cigar Celebrating a milestone occasion with an anniversary-edition spirit Building a premium aged-rum collection with a distinctive Dominican expression Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat does Ron Barceló 30 Aniversario taste like?
