Rose Oxide has the most value in three forms: Racemic (cis isomer ~ 75%), [Racemic] High Cis (cis isomer ~ 90+%) and Laevo. The latter is the finest, containing only the purest odour quality and is incredibly powerful with an odour threshold of 0.5 ppb (racemic is 50 ppb). Of the lower cost racemic types, Rose Oxide High Cis has a beautiful scent of red roses and geranium and lacks the metallic sting of the 75% cis version. It is far easier to dose than the laevo material owing to its considerably lower strength, and is extremely diffusive. Rose Oxide High Cis is used far more often in commercial fragrances due to the affordability. This product blends extremely well with the regular rose materials (Phenyl Ethyl Alcohol, Geraniol, Citronellol and Nerol) and with the less common Peomosa. It is lovely when combined with Black Pepper.
