A few swipes of light and this rose popped of the page! *This piece has a slight tear at the bottom of the paper as seen in the second photo and has been discounted for this reason.* About the Rose Studies Project: No flower is more captivating to me than the rose. Exploring them through soft pastel has not only deepened my love for their romance and beauty, but it's giving me a reason to dig deep into my memories and extract such lovely moments to relive through art. But these experiences alone didn’t leave me satiated. I needed to express them…bring back the feeling long after the blooms faded. How can you not feel something when in the presence of roses? It's been oddly freeing to give myself this focus. Sometimes when “the world is my oyster” I feel debilitated with the choices and decisions. But to focus on this subject has freed me to play and dive in with all my senses, attempt to express the inexpressible. Each highly textural study is created on acid-free, 100% cotton watercolor paper treated with clear gesso to accept the luminous pure pigments. Due to the delicate nature of soft pastel, some dust migration is possible, but this only adds to the charm of your original work of art. The imperfections and nuance on the paper are evidence of the touch of human hands.
