Hydrosols are created through a traditional steam distillation process. Fresh plant material is gently heated with water in a copper alembic still, allowing steam to rise through the plants and carry their aromatic and therapeutic qualities. As the steam cools, it condenses back into liquid. Copper has long been used in distillation for its ability to conduct heat evenly and support a clean, balanced extraction of the plant’s aromatic waters. The hydrosol is the aromatic liquid that remains.
