The Ross Compressor is an OTA-based circuit (that’s Operational Transconductance Amplifier for you nerds). It is built to the same spec as the “Era 2” gray box Ross compressor, with a simple control layout for Level and Sustain, and improved soft touch bypass and lower noise than the vintage units. On the side is a JHS addition, a two-way Standard/Bright switch. The Bright mode helps the compressed signal cut a little extra when plugged into a darker sounding amplifier.
