Rosy maple moths (Dryocampa rubicunda) seem too cute and colorful to be real, but they are a common species amongst the maple trees of North America. They are very small (1-2 inch wingspan) compared to their other Saturniidae relatives like the luna moth, so are less likely to be noticed from a distance.
